This year Living in the Garden is focusing on the creative class. Searching out handmade products for your garden & home, buying from the artist directly or through fair trade companies.
Up-Cycled Furniture
A Seattle area artist creates these "overstuffed" chairs and benches from reclaimed cedar fence boards. The seat is hinged with ample storage underneath, the front detail is copper. This is stylish recycling.
Huffman Pottery
"Darby throws, Phoebe sculpts, a work of art is born" We met Phoebe and Darby on our winter retreat in Port Townsend. What a delightful couple. We watched Darby as he threw an evenly thin walled garden bell. Firing the clay at very high temperatures results in a frost proof, strong, beautifully toned bell. There is an honesty and calmness to their unglazed pieces. We couldn't resist the birdbath/feeders which features Phoebe's sculpted birds.
ReTire Mats
Outdoor mats made by a retired gentleman in his Oregon basement. While originally made from tires these mats are built with scrap industrial belts that have been spared the landfill. Functional, durable, nostalgic.
Mud Statuary
As a one man Seattle statuary company, Johnny's pieces are far afield from your standard garden statuary. His unique designs and incredible stains beautifully elevate his work.
North Country Wind Bells
This family business designs and crafts each bell in Maine. Made from 60% recycled steel. Powder coated for year round durability. All metal, these bells will not twist, tangle or break.
